The PEAK PlasmaBlade Suction Coagulator device is intended for use in surgical procedures such as general and otolaryngology (ENT) including, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), tonsillectomy, and adenoidectomy, where coagulation of tissue and suction of fluids are desired. It is not intended to be used as a dissection instrument.
Device Story
Single-use, disposable electrosurgical instruments (UPPP tip and Suction Coagulator tip) designed for attachment to existing PEAK PlasmaBlade ENT handpiece. Operates with Pulsar I/II Electrosurgical Generators to deliver radio-frequency (RF) energy for soft tissue cutting and coagulation; includes integrated suction for smoke/fluid evacuation. Used in ENT surgical settings by physicians. Handpiece buttons or optional footswitch control activation. Output provides precise tissue management; benefits include reduced thermal damage and improved visualization via smoke/fluid removal.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data. Evidence consists of bench testing, electrical safety testing (IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-2), GLP-compliant in-vivo animal model performance/thermal effect studies, and cadaveric validation.
Technological Characteristics
Single-use, sterile electrosurgical instruments. RF-powered distal ends for cutting/coagulation. Integrated suction channel. Compatible with Pulsar I/II generators. Electrical safety per IEC 60601-1:2005 and IEC 60601-2-2:2009.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients undergoing otolaryngology (ENT) surgery, including uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), tonsillectomy (Pharyngeal, Tubal, Palatine), and adenoidectomy, requiring soft tissue cutting, coagulation, and fluid suction.

The PEAK PlasmaBlade UPPP and Suction Coaqulator are similar to the predicate devices in that they are single use, sterile, electrosurgical instruments used to cut (UPPP only) and coagulate soft tissue utilizing RF powered distal ends. Both enable the suction of fluid and smoke from the surgical site.
### Summary of Non-Clinical Testing:
The design and performance of the PEAK PlasmaBlade UPPP device were verified and validated through bench testing.
Electrical Safety of the PEAK PlasmaBlade UPPP was conducted in accordance with the following FDA recognized consensus standards:
| Recognition<br>Number | Standard | Title of Standard |
|-----------------------|---------------------------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
