Intended Use

The IBI Inquiry™ ClearICE™ Intracardiac Echocardiography Catheter is intended for intra-cardiac and intra-luminal visualization of cardiac anatomy and physiology as well as visualization of other devices in the heart.

Device Story

The IBI Inquiry™ ClearICE™ is a single-use, disposable, steerable intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) catheter. It features a phased-array ultrasonic imaging transducer at the distal tip. The catheter is 9 Fr (2.97 mm) in diameter with an insertable length of 90-110 cm. It provides bi-directional and quad-directional steering via a push/pull handle mechanism and rotating knob. The device connects to a GE Vivid i Diagnostic Ultrasound System using a reusable GE Connector Cable. Used in clinical settings, the catheter allows physicians to visualize cardiac anatomy, physiology, and other interventional devices within the heart. The ultrasound images are displayed on the GE system, assisting the clinician in real-time procedural guidance and decision-making during cardiac interventions.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. The device was validated in compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, ISO 10993 (biological evaluation), and various IEC/EN safety standards for medical electrical equipment. No clinical study data was provided.

Technological Characteristics

Phased-array ultrasonic imaging transducer; 9 Fr diameter; 90-110 cm length; bi-directional/quad-directional steering mechanism. Materials evaluated per ISO 10993-1. Sterilization via Ethylene Oxide (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11135). Connectivity via GE Connector Cable to GE Vivid i Ultrasound System. Complies with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-2, and ISO 10555-1.

Indications for Use

Indicated for intra-cardiac and intra-luminal visualization of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and other devices in the heart. No specific age or gender restrictions provided.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An intravascular diagnostic catheter is a device used to record intracardiac pressures, to sample blood, and to introduce substances into the heart and vessels. Included in this generic device are right-heart catheters, left-heart catheters, and angiographic catheters, among others.
