Intended Use
ASC High Pressure Braided Tubes are accessory devices to angiographic catheters intended to provide an extended luminal connection between an angiographic injector and an angiographic catheter for the purpose of delivering radiopaque contrast medium to selected sites in the vascular system.
Device Story
Sterile, single-use, disposable braided polymeric tubing; terminated with male, male rotating, or female luer connectors. Tubing construction: extrusion base coat, nylon reinforcement braid, extrusion top coat. Used in clinical settings as an extension between angiographic injectors and catheters to deliver contrast media. Provides higher rated pressure (1200 PSI) compared to non-braided predicates. Bench testing confirms tensile strength, static burst strength, and luer compatibility.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Testing included component tensile strength, static burst strength, and luer compatibility. Materials passed ISO-10993-1 biological evaluation.
Technological Characteristics
Materials: Polyurethane tubing, nylon reinforcement braid, polycarbonate luer connectors. Sterilization: Ethylene Oxide (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11135-1994). Standards: ISO 594-1:1986 (Luer taper), ISO 594-2:1991 (Luer lock), ISO-10993-1 (Biocompatibility). Rated pressure: 1200 PSI. Form factor: Braided tubing with various lengths (10-48 inches).
Indications for Use
Indicated for use as an accessory to angiographic catheters to provide an extended luminal connection between an angiographic injector and an angiographic catheter for delivery of radiopaque contrast medium to the vascular system.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An intravascular diagnostic catheter is a device used to record intracardiac pressures, to sample blood, and to introduce substances into the heart and vessels. Included in this generic device are right-heart catheters, left-heart catheters, and angiographic catheters, among others.
