Device Story
VEA Align is cloud-based software for orthopedic global alignment assessment. Input: biplanar 2D X-ray images from EOS or EOSedge systems. Operation: machine learning-based algorithm performs initial placement of anatomic landmarks; user validates and adjusts landmarks; clinical parameters are recalculated based on adjusted landmarks. Output: interactive landmarks and calculated clinical alignment parameters. Used by surgeons and clinical staff in clinical settings. Output aids clinical decision-making for spinal and lower limb deformities. Benefits: provides precise measurements to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Validation included usability testing and assessment of reproducibility and accuracy of clinical parameter outputs. Machine learning algorithm performance was validated using a dataset of 555 patients covering the intended population. Direct comparison of skeletal landmark locations between VEA Align and the predicate sterEOS Workstation met all acceptance criteria.

Nonclinical performance testing performed on the subject device, VEA Align, supports substantial equivalence to the predicate device. The following V&V testing was performed:

Direct comparison between skeletal landmark locations between the subject VEA Align device and predicate sterEOS Workstation (K172346) met acceptance criteria for algorithm performance.

Based upon the information provided in this 510(k) submission, it has been determined that the subject device, VEA Align, is substantially equivalent to the legally marketed predicate device in regards to indications for use, intended use, design, technology, and performance.
