Intended Use
The Diagnostic Ultrasound Systems Aplio i900 Model TUS-AI900, Aplio i800 Model TUS-AI800 and Aplio i700 Model TUS-AI700 are indicated for the visualization of structures, and dynamic processes with the human body usinq ultrasound and to provide image information for diaqnosis in the following clinical applications: fetal, abdominal, intra-operative (abdominal), pediatric, small orqans, trans-vaqinal, trans-rectal, neonatal cephalic, adult cephalic, cardiac (both adult and pediatric), peripheral vascular, transesophageal, musculo-skeletal (both conventional and superficial) and laparoscopic.
Device Story
Mobile diagnostic ultrasound system; uses wide array of probes (flat linear, convex linear, sector) with 2-20 MHz frequency range. Inputs: ultrasound signals from patient anatomy. Transforms inputs via beamforming and signal processing to generate 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and 3D/4D images. Used in clinical settings by trained healthcare professionals. Features include Sensor 3D, Shadow Glass, Attenuation Imaging, Shear Wave Dispersion, Tissue Intensity Analysis (NLV), and Contrast Harmonic Imaging (CHI). Output displayed on system monitor for diagnostic interpretation. Assists clinicians in visualizing structures/dynamic processes; supports clinical decision-making through quantitative measurements (e.g., attenuation coefficients, volume measurements). Benefits include improved diagnostic accuracy and workflow efficiency.
Clinical Evidence
Clinical evaluations conducted using representative in-vivo images of volunteer livers. Confirmed Attenuation Imaging displays color maps of attenuation coefficients and numerical results. Confirmed Tissue Intensity Analysis (NLV) displays acceptable color map images and mean NLV values. Bench testing included phantom studies for all new features (Sensor 3D, Attenuation Imaging, NLV, Fusion Auto Track, Auto Volume Measurement, CHI, Shear Wave Dispersion, Shadow Glass) to verify performance and measurement accuracy.
Technological Characteristics
Mobile ultrasound system; frequency range 2-20 MHz. Transducers: flat linear, convex linear, sector arrays. Connectivity: supports fusion with CT/MR data. Software: Moderate level of concern. Standards: IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-37, IEC 62304, ISO 10993-1, AIUM RTD2-2004. Features: Beamforming, Doppler, Elastography, 3D/4D imaging, Fusion imaging.
Indications for Use
Indicated for visualization of structures and dynamic processes in fetal, abdominal, intra-operative (abdominal), pediatric, small organs, trans-vaginal, trans-rectal, neonatal cephalic, adult cephalic, cardiac (adult/pediatric), peripheral vascular, transesophageal, musculoskeletal (conventional/superficial), and laparoscopic applications.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An ultrasonic pulsed doppler imaging system is a device that combines the features of continuous wave doppler-effect technology with pulsed-echo effect technology and is intended to determine stationary body tissue characteristics, such as depth or location of tissue interfaces or dynamic tissue characteristics such as velocity of blood or tissue motion. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.

Dear Mr. Tadeo:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration. Please note: CDRH does not evaluate information related to contract liability warranties. We remind you, however, that device labeling must be truthful and not misleading.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.
Please be advised that FDA's issuance of a substantial equivalence determination does not mean that FDA has made a determination that your device complies with other requirements of the Act or any Federal statutes and regulations administered by other Federal agencies. You must comply with all the Act's requirements, including, but not limited to: registration and listing (21 CFR Part 807); labeling (21 CFR Part 801); medical device reporting (reporting of medical device-related adverse events) (21 CFR 803); good manufacturing practice requirements as set forth in the quality systems (QS) regulation (21 CFR Part 820); and if applicable, the electronic product radiation control provisions (Sections 531-542 of the Act); 21 CFR 1000-1050.
