The Mantra Electrode is intended to be used with Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulator and Electronic Muscle Stimulator Units.
Device Story
Mantra Electrode is a multi-layer cutaneous electrode designed for use with Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulator (TENS) and Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS) units. The device consists of a hydrogel layer, a conducting film, and a non-woven backing material. It is available with various connector types, including snap-type lead wires, button connectors, and tab-type connectors. The electrode is applied to the patient's skin to facilitate the delivery of electrical stimulation from the stimulator unit. It functions as a passive interface between the stimulator and the patient's body. The device is intended for use in clinical or home settings as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It does not contain active electronic components or software.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Biocompatibility established.
Technological Characteristics
Multi-layer structure comprising hydrogel, conducting film, and non-woven backing. Connectors include snap-type, button, and tab-type. Passive cutaneous electrode. No software or active energy source.
Indications for Use
Indicated for use with Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulator (TENS) and Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS) units for patients requiring electrical stimulation therapy.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A cutaneous electrode is an electrode that is applied directly to a patient's skin either to record physiological signals (e.g., the electroencephalogram) or to apply electrical stimulation.

Dear Mr. Spertell:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.
