Intended Use
The SI-TECHNOLOGY Device is intended for sacroiliac joint fusion for conditions including sacroillac (SI) joint disruptions and degenerative sacroiliitis.
Device Story
SI-DESIS Screws are metallic bone fixation fasteners designed for sacroiliac joint fusion. System consists of 6.5 mm diameter cannulated screws (partially or fully threaded) and optional 5 mm supplemental screws for fixation of pelvic bones. Used by surgeons in clinical settings to provide stabilization and assist healing of sacroiliac joints. Screws are not intended to replace normal body structures. Device provides mechanical fixation to facilitate fusion; clinical benefit derived from stabilization of joint disruptions and degenerative conditions.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Performance demonstrated via ASTM F543 (screw strength) and ASTM F2193 (static and fatigue testing). Results indicate performance meets or exceeds predicate devices.
Technological Characteristics
Metallic bone fixation fasteners manufactured from titanium alloy per ASTM F136. Features 6.5 mm diameter cannulated screws and 5 mm supplemental screws. Mechanical fixation principle. No software or energy source.
Indications for Use
Indicated for sacroiliac joint fusion in patients with sacroiliac joint disruptions and degenerative sacroiliitis.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
