Intended Use

GPC Bone plates and bone screws are provided non-sterile. GPC bone plates and bone screws are intended for treating fractures of various bones including the clavicle, pelvis, scapula, long bone ( humerus, ulna, radius, femur, tibia and fibula), and small bone (metacarpals, metatarsals, phalanges). GPC DHS / DCS plate system is used to provide fixation of fractures to the proximal femur shaft and generally indicated for use in trochanteric, pertrochanteric, intertrochanteric and basilar neck fractures.

Device Story

GPC Bone Plates, Bone Screws, and DHS/DCS Plate System are non-sterile metallic orthopedic implants used for fracture fixation. Plates are available in various configurations (DCP, tubular, special, mini-fragment, DHS/DCS) and dimensions to match bone anatomy. Screws include cortical, cancellous, malleolar, and cannulated types. The DHS/DCS system uses a plate fastened to the femoral shaft with cortex screws and a barrel secured by a DHS screw. These devices are implanted by surgeons in an operating room setting to stabilize fractured bones, facilitating healing. The implants provide mechanical support to the bone structure during the recovery process.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data provided. Performance was verified through mechanical testing according to ASTM standards (ASTM F382 for plates, ASTM F384 for angled devices, ASTM F543 for fasteners) and in-house inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Stainless steel alloy (ASTM F138, ASTM F139) and Titanium alloy (ASTM F136). Plates: 1.0mm-6.0mm thickness, 3.0mm-17mm width, 15mm-360mm length, 2-22 holes. Screws: 1.5mm-7.3mm diameter, 6mm-150mm length, hexagonal recess. DHS/DCS system: 95-150 degree barrel angles, 25mm/38mm barrel lengths. Non-sterile, intended for surgical implantation.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients with fractures of the clavicle, pelvis, scapula, long bones (humerus, radius, ulna, femur, tibia, fibula), and small bones (metacarpals, metatarsals, phalanges). The DHS/DCS plate system is indicated for fixation of proximal femur fractures, including trochanteric, pertrochanteric, intertrochanteric, and basilar neck fractures.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
