Intended Use
The DHS/DCS Plate System is provided non-sterile. The device may be used for fixation of fractures of the proximal femur, such as femoral neck, trochanteric, pertrochanteric, or intertrochanteric zones.
Device Story
Non-sterile orthopedic implant system for proximal femur fracture fixation. Components include DHS/DCS plates, DHS/DCS screws, compression screws, and 4.5 mm self-tapping cortex screws. Plates feature varying barrel lengths (25-38 mm) and angles (135°-150°). System provides mechanical stabilization of bone fragments; compression screw facilitates fracture compression. Intended for surgical use by orthopedic surgeons to stabilize fractures, promoting bone healing. Device is non-sterile and requires sterilization prior to use.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided; bench testing only.
Technological Characteristics
Materials: 316 LS stainless steel and titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). Mechanical fixation system. Components: plates, screws, compression screws. Barrel angles: 135°, 140°, 145°, 150°. Barrel lengths: 25 mm, 38 mm. Screw dimensions: 12.5 mm outer diameter, 8.0 mm shaft diameter. Non-sterile; requires sterilization.
Indications for Use
Indicated for fixation of proximal femur fractures, including femoral neck, trochanteric, pertrochanteric, or intertrochanteric zones.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
