Intended Use

The ENDOSKELETON® TA Interbody Fusion Device is indicated for use in skeletally mature patients with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) at one or two contiguous levels from L2-S1. The Endoskeleton® TC is indicated to be used with supplemental fixation and autograft bone. The Endoskeleton® TL IBD is indicated for use in spinal fusion procedures in skeletally mature patients with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) at one or two contiguous levels from L2-S1. DDD is defined as discogenic back pain with degeneration of the disc confirmed by patient history and radiographic studies. Patients should have received 6 months of non-operative treatment prior to treatment with the device is intended for use with supplemental fixation systems cleared for use in the lumbar spine. Device Story

Endoskeleton® System consists of titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V-ELI) interbody fusion devices and vertebral body replacement implants; used in spinal fusion or reconstruction procedures. Implants are surgically placed by surgeons to stabilize spinal segments or replace damaged vertebral bodies. Devices are used with autograft bone and, depending on the specific model, either standalone bone screws or supplemental internal fixation systems. The modification in this submission is the transition from non-sterile to sterile delivery via gamma irradiation. No changes to design, dimensions, or materials.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Sterilization validation was performed to confirm the efficacy of gamma irradiation for the subject devices.

Technological Characteristics

Medical grade titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V-ELI) implants; various geometries for spinal anatomy. Sterilization: Gamma irradiation. No changes to design, dimensions, or materials compared to predicates.

Indications for Use

Indicated for skeletally mature patients with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) at one or two contiguous levels (L2-S1) or cervical DDD (C3-C7); or vertebral body replacement (T1-L5) for tumor/trauma. Patients must have failed non-operative treatment (6 months for lumbar, 6 weeks for cervical). Contraindications include non-skeletally mature patients.

Identification

An intervertebral body fusion device is an implanted single or multiple component spinal device made from a variety of materials, including titanium and polymers. The device is inserted into the intervertebral body space of the cervical or lumbosacral spine, and is intended for intervertebral body fusion.

Special Controls
