Indications for Use
For TENS programs: The device is an electrical nerve stimulator indicated for use for pain relief by applying an electrical current to electrodes on a patient's skin to treat pain. In particular, this device is indicated for use for (1) Symptomatic relief of chronic (long term) intractable pain, and (2) adjunctive treatment in the management of post-surgical and post-traumatic pain problems. For EMS programs: The device is an electrical powered muscle stimulator indicated for medical purpose to repeatedly contract muscles by passing electrical currents through electrodes contacting the affected body area. In particular, this device is indicated for use for (1) Relaxing muscle spasms, (2) Increasing local blood circulation, (3) Immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venous thrombosis, (4) Muscle re-education, (5) Maintaining or increasing range of motion, and (6) Preventing or retarding disuse atrophy.
Device Story
HIVOX HD2 is a portable TENS/EMS stimulator; generates small electrical pulses delivered via lead cables to skin-surface electrodes. Operates by passing current through skin to activate underlying nerves (TENS) or induce muscle contraction (EMS). Used by patients or clinicians in clinical/home settings. Device features adjustable frequency (2-120.2 Hz) and fixed pulse width (250 µs). Powered by 3 AAA batteries. Provides symptomatic pain relief and muscle therapy. Healthcare providers use device output to manage pain and physical rehabilitation. Benefits include non-invasive pain management and muscle function maintenance.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data. Bench testing only, including electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and waveform testing.
Technological Characteristics
Portable TENS/EMS stimulator; DC 4.5V (3x AAA batteries). Constant voltage output. Max output 24.0V/48.0mA (@ 500 Ω). Fixed pulse width 250 µs; frequency 2-120.2 Hz. Plastic housing. Connectivity via lead cables to carbon silicon electrodes (45x45 mm). Standards: IEC/EN 60601-1, IEC/EN 60601-1-2, IEC/EN 60601-2-10.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients requiring pain relief (chronic intractable, post-surgical, post-traumatic) or muscle stimulation (spasm relaxation, circulation improvement, venous thrombosis prevention, muscle re-education, range of motion maintenance, disuse atrophy prevention).
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator for pain relief is a device used to apply an electrical current to electrodes on a patient's skin to treat pain.
