Intended Use

The NaviCam Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy System is intended for visualization of the small bowel mucosa in adults. It may be used as a tool in the detection of abnormalities of the small bowel.

Device Story

System consists of ingestible capsule, external data recorder, locator, and ESView software. Capsule acquires video images of small bowel mucosa during natural GI transit; transmits images via RF to external data recorder. Locator activates capsule and confirms presence in body. Physician uses ESView software to process, analyze, store, and view images; software generates clinical reports and atlas. Device provides non-invasive visualization for detecting small bowel abnormalities. Benefits include diagnostic imaging without invasive endoscopy.

Clinical Evidence

Prospective clinical study (NCT05086471) compared NaviCam to PillCam SB3. Results showed diagnostic Overall Percent Agreement of 89.66% (95% CI: 81.50%, 94.46%) and Kappa of 0.6652 (95% CI: 0.4653, 0.8652).

Technological Characteristics

System includes ingestible capsule, RF data recorder, and ESView software. Capsule features optical imaging, battery (min 8 hours, >57,500 images), and RF transmitter. Complies with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 62471, and UL 1642. Bench testing verified biting resistance, MTF/angular resolution, temperature safety, pH integrity, image uniformity, frame rate, geometric distortion, FOV, and data integrity.

Indications for Use

Indicated for visualization of small bowel mucosa in adults to detect abnormalities.
