Intended Use
The intended use for the New Device is the same as that of the Predicate Device in that it is for cutting soft tissue and providing hemostasis during endoscopic surgery.
Device Story
UltraCision 5mm Hard Sheath LaparoSonic Blade instruments (Sharp Hook, Dissecting Hook, Ball Coagulator styles); sterile, single-patient use. System includes titanium blade with non-removable sheath, hand piece, blade adaptor, wrench, generator, foot switch, and cart. Used in endoscopic surgery by physicians for soft tissue cutting and hemostasis. Ultrasonic energy provides cutting and coagulation; serves as alternative to electrosurgery, lasers, or steel scalpels. Benefits include precise cutting with minimal thermal injury.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Pre-clinical laboratory evaluations demonstrated acceptable performance in cutting, blunt tissue dissection, and coagulation.
Technological Characteristics
Titanium blade; non-removable sheath; 32 cm working length. Ultrasonic activation principle. System includes generator, hand piece, and foot switch. Sterile, single-patient use.
Indications for Use
Indicated for soft tissue incisions when bleeding control and minimal thermal injury are desired. Can be used as an adjunct to or substitute for electrosurgery, lasers, and steel scalpels in endoscopic surgery.
