Device Story
Ultrasonic surgical system comprising generator/footswitch, handpiece, and various blades/shears. Used in OR for soft tissue cutting and coagulation; provides alternative to electrosurgery, lasers, or steel scalpels. Surgeon-operated; ultrasonic energy facilitates tissue incision while minimizing thermal damage. Benefits include improved hemostasis and reduced thermal injury during open and endoscopic procedures.
Clinical Evidence
Clinical literature search performed to support use in providing exposure to orthopedic structures (hip, knee, shoulder, spine). No new clinical trials conducted.
Technological Characteristics
Ultrasonic surgical instrument system. Components: generator, footswitch, handpiece, and various blades/shears. No changes to materials, construction, or sterilization from predicate.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients requiring soft tissue incisions where bleeding control and minimal thermal injury are desired. Applicable across general, plastic, pediatric, gynecologic, urologic, thoracic, and ENT surgeries, and for exposure to orthopedic structures (spine/joint space).
