Intended Use

The Signature Orthopaedics’ Cambridge Partial Knee is designed for a single compartment replacement of the natural knee joint. The Cambridge Partial Knee is indicated for cemented use in partial knee arthroplasty procedures. Partial replacement of the articulating surfaces of the knee is indicated only when only one compartment of the joint is affected due to the compartmental primary degenerative or post-traumatic degenerative disease, previous tibial condyle or plateau fractures, deformity or revision of previous arthroplasty.

Device Story

Cambridge Partial Knee is a unicompartmental knee system for fixed partial knee replacement. System comprises a spherical, symmetrical cast cobalt chrome (CoCrMo) femoral component and a monobloc fixed tibial bearing (titanium baseplate overmoulded with Vitamin E UHMWPE). Device is intended for cemented fixation in partial knee arthroplasty. Surgeons perform the procedure to replace articulating surfaces in a single affected knee compartment. Device restores joint function and addresses degenerative disease or post-traumatic conditions. Benefits include pain relief and improved joint mobility for patients with localized knee pathology.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Evaluations included range of motion, tibial tray fatigue, tibial component overmould strength, contact area/stress/wear analysis, and femoral fatigue testing. Testing performed per ASTM F1340-17, ASTM F1800-19e1, ASTM F3210-22, ISO 14879-1:2020, and ISO 21536:2023. Results demonstrate sufficient strength and performance for intended use.

A knee joint femorotibial metal/polymer non-constrained cemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace part of a knee joint. The device limits minimally (less than normal anatomic constraints) translation in one or more planes. It has no linkage across-the-joint. This generic type of device includes prostheses that have a femoral condylar resurfacing component or components made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, and a tibial component or components made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and are intended for use with bone cement (§ 888.3027).
