Intended Use

Device Story

The Dimension Vista™ STFR Flex® Reagent Cartridge is an in vitro diagnostic assay for use on the Dimension Vista™ System. It utilizes an automated turbidimetric immunoassay principle. Patient samples (serum or heparinized plasma) are mixed with polystyrene particles coated with monoclonal antibodies specific to human soluble transferrin receptor (STFR). STFR in the sample causes aggregation of the particles; this aggregation scatters a beam of light passed through the sample. The intensity of scattered light, measured at 840 nm, is proportional to the STFR concentration. The system compares this measurement against a standard of known concentration to output a quantitative result. The device is intended for use in clinical laboratory settings by trained personnel. Healthcare providers use the resulting STFR concentration to assist in diagnosing iron deficiency anemia, malnutrition, infection, and acute inflammation. Clinical Evidence

Method comparison study performed comparing Dimension Vista STFR assay to Dade Behring N Latex sTFR assay on the BN ProSpec System. Sample size n=153; concentration range 0.21 mg/L to 4.13 mg/L. Regression analysis yielded slope 1.053, intercept -0.078 mg/L, and correlation coefficient 0.997.
