Intended Use
The SureSigns VS3 vital signs monitor is for use by health care professionals whenever there is a need for monitoring the physiological parameters of patients. The SureSignsVS3 is for monitoring, recording and alarming of multiple physiological parameters in healthcare environments for patient types listed below. Additionally, the monitor may be used in transport situations within a healthcare facility. The SureSigns VS4 vital signs monitor is for use by health care professionals whenever there is a need for monitoring the physiological parameters of patients. The SureSigns VS4 is for monitoring, recording and alarming of multiple physiological parameters in healthcare environments for patient types listed below. Additionally, the monitor may be used in transport situations within a healthcare facility.
Device Story
SureSigns VS3/VS4 are multi-parameter patient monitors used by healthcare professionals in clinical settings for real-time monitoring, recording, and alarming of physiological data. Inputs include NBP, SpO2, Temperature, CO2, RRa, and SpHb. The devices process these signals to provide continuous patient status updates. The primary modification is the integration of 'QuickAlert' functionality, which calculates and displays configurable Modified Early Warning Scores (MEWS) on-device. This output assists clinicians in identifying patient deterioration, facilitating timely clinical decision-making. The monitors are intended for use in healthcare facilities and during intra-facility transport.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Verification and validation activities, including system-level performance tests and risk assessment-based testing, were conducted. Results demonstrated that the modified VS3 and VS4 monitors met all performance claims and passed all specified verification tests.
Technological Characteristics
Multi-parameter patient monitors. Features include NBP, SpO2, Temperature, CO2, RRa, and SpHb measurement modules. Connectivity includes on-device display and alarming. Software includes the QuickAlert feature for calculating Modified Early Warning Scores (MEWS). No changes to measurement specifications or fundamental sensing principles compared to predicate devices.
Indications for Use
Indicated for health care professionals to monitor, record, and alarm physiological parameters in healthcare environments and during intra-facility transport. VS3 supports NBP, SpO2, and Temperature for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. VS4 supports NBP, SpO2, Temperature, CO2, RRa, and SpHb for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients (with specific exclusions for RRa/SpHb in neonates). Contraindicated for transport outside the healthcare facility.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A blood pressure alarm is a device that accepts the signal from a blood pressure transducer amplifier, processes the signal, and emits an alarm when the blood pressure falls outside a pre-set upper or lower limit.
