Device Story

ViewPoint integrates 3D CT and MR diagnostic images with a non-mechanical 3D digitizer for surgical planning and intra-operative localization. System uses ultrasonic pulses emitted from a hand-held wand, detected by a microphone array mounted to the OR table, to track probe position. Operates on a DEC 3000 workstation; displays multiplanar reformatted images and surface renderings in 4 viewports. Used by surgeons in the OR to provide real-time orientation and reference information during intracranial procedures. Nonabsorbable polypropylene surgical suture is a monofilament, nonabsorbable, sterile, flexible thread prepared from long-chain polyolefin polymer known as polypropylene and is indicated for use in soft tissue approximation. The polypropylene surgical suture meets United States Pharmacopeia (U.S.P.) requirements as described in the U.S.P. Monograph for Nonabsorbable Surgical Sutures; it may be undyed or dyed with an FDA approved color additive; and the suture may be provided with or without a standard needle attached.
