Indications for Use

The Salvo® Spine System is intended to provide immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments in skeletally mature patients as an adjunct to fusion in the treatment of the following acute and chronic instabilities or deformities of the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine: degenerative disc disease; spondylolisthesis; fracture; dislocation; scoliosis; kyphosis; spinal tumor; and failed previous fusion (pseudarthrosis). When used in a percutaneous approach with minimally invasive surgery (MIS) instrumentation, the Salvo® Spine System is intended to provide immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments in skeletally mature patients as an adjunct to fusion in the treatment of the following acute and chronic instabilities or deformities of the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine: degenerative disc disease; spondylolisthesis; fracture; dislocation; scoliosis; kyphosis; spinal tumor; and failed previous fusion (pseudarthrosis). When the Salvo® Spine System fenestrated screws are used in conjunction with Dynamo™ Spinal Cements (MV or HV), the Salvo® Spine System is intended to restore the integrity of the spinal column even in the absence of fusion for a limited time period in patients with advanced stage tumors involving the thoracic and lumbar spine in whom life expectancy is of insufficient duration to permit achievement of fusion. The Salvo® fenestrated screws augmented with the Dynamo™ Spinal Cements (MV or HV) are for use at spinal levels where the structural integrity of the spine is not severely compromised. Dynamo™ Spinal Cements (MV or HV), when used in conjunction with the Salvo® Spine System fenestrated screws, are intended to restore the integrity of the spinal column even in the absence of fusion for a limited time period in patients with advanced stage tumors involving the thoracic and lumbar spine, in whom life expectancy is of insufficient duration to allow for achievement of fusion. Dynamo™ Spinal Cements (MV or HV) are limited for use at spinal levels where the structural integrity of the spine is not severely compromised.

Device Story

Salvo® Spine System comprises non-sterile, single-use titanium/cobalt-chromium/PEEK screws, rods, and connectors for rigid spinal fixation. Dynamo™ Spinal Cement is a self-hardening, radiopaque PMMA bone cement (powder/liquid components). System used by surgeons in clinical settings for spinal stabilization. Fenestrated screws allow cement injection to augment fixation, particularly in patients with advanced spinal tumors where fusion is not feasible. Cement restores spinal column integrity for limited periods. System supports both open and percutaneous/MIS approaches. Clinical benefit includes stabilization of compromised spinal segments and structural support in palliative tumor cases.

Indications for Use

Comparison of Technological Characteristics** The technological design features of the subject bone cement and fenestrated bone screws were compared to the predicates in intended use, indications for use, design, materials, technological characteristics and performance and it was demonstrated that they are substantially equivalent. ## **7. Performance Data** Nonclinical testing was performed on the Dynamo™ Spinal Cement, Salvo® Spine System to support substantial equivalence to predicate devices. Dynamic compression bending tests (per ASTM F1717) were performed. Additionally, removal torque testing (per ASTM F543) and testing of the cement flow and bolus formation of the subject devices were performed. Axial pull-out testing was performed. Clinical testing is not applicable. ## **8. Conclusion** The indications for use, technological characteristics, and performance testing show that the subject devices are substantially equivalent to the legally marketed predicate devices.
