Intended Use
The Surn5 Electrosurgical Argon Beam Generator and Accessories are indicated for monopolar or bipolar surgery to achieve argon beam and cut or coagulation for the tissue. It is intended to be used with monopolar handpiece and dispersive electrode or bipolar handpiece and footswitches.
Device Story
Electrosurgical generator system; provides high-frequency (HF) power (400-600 kHz) for surgical cutting and coagulation. Inputs: user-selected modes and power settings via front panel; activation via handpiece or footswitch. Outputs: HF electrical current delivered to tissue via monopolar pencil or bipolar handpiece; argon beam delivery for coagulation. Used in clinical surgical settings by physicians. Device transforms electrical input into specific waveforms (sinusoidal, constant/modulated) to achieve desired tissue effects. Benefits include precise tissue management during surgery. Output status indicated on front panel.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Compliance demonstrated with IEC 60601-1 (general safety), IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC), IEC 60601-2-2 (HF surgical equipment safety), and IEC 60601-1-6 (usability). Performance testing conducted per FDA guidance 'Premarket Notification (510(k)) Submissions for Electrosurgical Devices for General Surgery'.
Technological Characteristics
HF generator; 400-600 kHz output; 100-240VAC 50/60Hz. Modes: 4 Monopolar Cut, 8 Monopolar Coagulation, Argon Beam, 4 Bipolar. Max power: 320W (Monopolar Cut), 120W (Coag), 150W (Argon), 100W (Bipolar). Waveforms: Sinusoidal constant/modulated, Cut/Coag pulse phases. Standards: IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-2-2, IEC 60601-1-6.
Indications for Use
