Intended Use
Ultrasound imaging, measurement and analysis of the human body as follows: Fetal/Obstetrics, Abdominal (includes GYN and Urological/Prostate), Pediatric, Small Organ (includes breast, testes, thyroid), Cardiac, Peripheral Vascular, Musculoskeletal Conventional, Musculoskeletal Superficial, Transcranial, Transrectal, Transvaginal, Tissue Biopsy/Fluid Drainage.
Device Story
Versana Premier is a mobile diagnostic ultrasound system for use by healthcare professionals. It acquires, processes, and displays ultrasound images for clinical applications including fetal, abdominal, cardiac, and musculoskeletal imaging. The system consists of a console with an operator control panel (keyboard, trackball, touch panel), display monitor, and various transducers (convex, linear, sector, mechanical 4D). It operates on AC power or an internal battery. The device supports multiple imaging modes (B, M, PW/CW Doppler, Color, Power, Harmonic, Coded Pulse). Clinicians use the system to perform measurements, capture images, and generate reports. It includes productivity tools like 'Whizz' and 'Breast Care 2.0', and features for needle recognition, bladder volume measurement, and cloud connectivity (Tricefy). The device aids in clinical decision-making by providing real-time visualization and analysis of internal anatomy, facilitating diagnostic assessments and interventional guidance.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical studies were required to support substantial equivalence. The device was evaluated through non-clinical bench testing, including acoustic output measurement, biocompatibility, cleaning/disinfection effectiveness, and thermal, electrical, electromagnetic, and mechanical safety testing.
Technological Characteristics
Mobile ultrasound console with digital acquisition/processing. Transducers: convex, linear, sector, mechanical 4D. Modes: B, M, PW/CW Doppler, Color, Power, Harmonic, Coded Pulse. Connectivity: DICOM (NEMA PS 3.1-3.20), Tricefy. Safety standards: AAMI/ANSI ES60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, IEC60601-2-37, ISO10993-1, NEMA UD 2. Biocompatible patient-contact materials.
Indications for Use
Indicated for general purpose diagnostic ultrasound imaging and analysis in fetal/obstetrics, abdominal (including GYN/urological/prostate), pediatric, small organ (breast, testes, thyroid), cardiac, peripheral vascular, musculoskeletal, transcranial, transrectal, transvaginal, and interventional guidance (tissue biopsy/fluid drainage, vascular/non-vascular access) applications.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An ultrasonic pulsed doppler imaging system is a device that combines the features of continuous wave doppler-effect technology with pulsed-echo effect technology and is intended to determine stationary body tissue characteristics, such as depth or location of tissue interfaces or dynamic tissue characteristics such as velocity of blood or tissue motion. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.

Dear Tracey Ortiz:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. Although this letter refers to your product as a device, please be aware that some cleared products may instead be combination products. The 510(k) Premarket Notification Database located at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm identifies combination product submissions. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration. Please note: CDRH does not evaluate information related to contract liability warranties. We remind you, however, that device labeling must be truthful and not misleading.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.
Please be advised that FDA's issuance of a substantial equivalence determination does not mean that FDA has made a determination that your device complies with other requirements of the Act or any Federal statutes and regulations administered by other Federal agencies. You must comply with all the Act's requirements, including, but not limited to: registration and listing (21 CFR Part 807); labeling (21 CFR Part 801); medical device reporting of medical device-related adverse events) (21 CFR 803) for
