Intended Use

The VMS+ system is an adjunct to existing ultrasound imaging systems and is intended to record, analyze, store and retrieve digital ultrasound images for computerized 3-dimensional image processing. The VMS+ system is indicated for use where Left Ventricle (LV), Right Ventricle (RV), Left Atrium (LA), and Right Atrium (RA) volumes and ejection fractions are warranted or desired.

Device Story

VMS+ is an adjunct diagnostic ultrasound image analysis system; operates as an add-on to existing ultrasound imaging systems. Inputs include digital ultrasound images; system utilizes a 6-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) magnetic tracking system and external ECG trigger for spatial and temporal synchronization. Device transforms 2D ultrasound inputs into 3D models using a Knowledge Based Reconstruction (KBR) database containing heart chamber models. Produces quantitative outputs including volumes and ejection fractions for LV, RV, LA, and RA. Used in clinical settings by healthcare professionals to assist in cardiac evaluation; output aids clinicians in assessing cardiac function and chamber size. Benefits include non-invasive, computerized 3D quantification of cardiac chambers.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data. Substantial equivalence supported by bench testing of LV, LA, and RA catalogs, including automated and manual testing to verify reconstruction accuracy, and compliance with electrical/electromagnetic safety standards.

Technological Characteristics

Windows OS-based analysis system; utilizes real-time video capture card, external ECG trigger, and pulsed DC 6DOF magnetic tracking system. Employs Knowledge Based Reconstruction (KBR) database for 3D modeling. Complies with IEC 60601-1 (general safety) and IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC).

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring assessment of Left Ventricle (LV), Right Ventricle (RV), Left Atrium (LA), and Right Atrium (RA) volumes and ejection fractions.

Regulatory Classification
