Intended Use

OsteoReady® Dental Implant System is indicated for use in surgical and restorative applications for placement in the bone of the upper or lower jaw to provide support for prosthetic devices, such as artificial teeth, in order to restore the patient's chewing function. RidgeReady® 3.0 implants are intended to replace a lateral incisor in the maxilla and/or a central or lateral incisor in the mandible.

Device Story

System consists of endosseous dental implants, cover screws, healing caps, and abutments; used in surgical and restorative dental procedures to support prosthetic devices. Implants are threaded, tapered, self-tapping, root-form designs; manufactured from Grade 5 Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) or PEEK. Operated by dental professionals in clinical settings. Device provides mechanical anchorage for artificial teeth; restores patient chewing function. Performance verified via mechanical fatigue testing (ISO 14801) and biocompatibility assessments. System includes various diameters and lengths to accommodate anatomical requirements.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Evidence includes sterilization validation (ISO 11137, ISO 17665), biocompatibility (ISO 10993-5, ISO 10993-10), fatigue testing (ISO 14801), shelf-life testing (ASTM F-1980), and packaging validation (ASTM D4169). LAL/endotoxin testing performed per USP 161/85. Risk assessment conducted per ISO 14971.

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Grade 5 Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) per ISO 5832-3 and PEEK. Design: Threaded, tapered, self-tapping, root-form endosseous implants with internal hex connection. Surface: Sand-blasted and acid-etched. Sterilization: Gamma radiation for implants; steam sterilization for abutments. Dimensions: Various diameters (3.0mm to 6.0mm) and lengths (7mm to 15mm).

Indications for Use

Indicated for surgical and restorative applications in the upper or lower jaw to support prosthetic devices (artificial teeth) to restore chewing function. RidgeReady 3.0 implants are indicated for replacing a lateral incisor in the maxilla and/or a central or lateral incisor in the mandible.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An endosseous dental implant is a prescription device made of a material such as titanium or titanium alloy that is intended to be surgically placed in the bone of the upper or lower jaw arches to provide support for prosthetic devices, such as artificial teeth, in order to restore a patient's chewing function.

Special Controls

*Classification.* (1) Class II (special controls). The device is classified as class II if it is a root-form endosseous dental implant. The root-form endosseous dental implant is characterized by four geometrically distinct types: Basket, screw, solid cylinder, and hollow cylinder. The guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Root-Form Endosseous Dental Implants and Endosseous Dental Implant Abutments” will serve as the special control. (See § 872.1(e) for the availability of this guidance document.)(2) *Classification.* Class II (special controls). The device is classified as class II if it is a blade-form endosseous dental implant. The special controls for this device are:(i) The design characteristics of the device must ensure that the geometry and material composition are consistent with the intended use; (ii) Mechanical performance (fatigue) testing under simulated physiological conditions to demonstrate maximum load (endurance limit) when the device is subjected to compressive and shear loads; (iii) Corrosion testing under simulated physiological conditions to demonstrate corrosion potential of each metal or alloy, couple potential for an assembled dissimilar metal implant system, and corrosion rate for an assembled dissimilar metal implant system; (iv) The device must be demonstrated to be biocompatible; (v) Sterility testing must demonstrate the sterility of the device; (vi) Performance testing to evaluate the compatibility of the device in a magnetic resonance (MR) environment; (vii) Labeling must include a clear description of the technological features, how the device should be used in patients, detailed surgical protocol and restoration procedures, relevant precautions and warnings based on the clinical use of the device, and qualifications and training requirements for device users including technicians and clinicians; (viii) Patient labeling must contain a description of how the device works, how the device is placed, how the patient needs to care for the implant, possible adverse events and how to report any complications; and (ix) Documented clinical experience must demonstrate safe and effective use and capture any adverse events observed during clinical use.

The only difference is related to statement of RidgeReady® 3.0 implants which are intended to replace a lateral incisor in the maxilla and/or a central or lateral incisor in the mandible. This statement is similar to the reference devices NobelActive K142260 and DENTIN K120530 since these reference devices also introduce the 3.0ø implants, whereas the primary predicate doesn't introduce the 3.0ø implants . Therefore, OsteoReady doesn't introduce any safety or efficacy issues. {7}------------------------------------------------ Image /page/7/Picture/0 description: The image is a logo for OsteoReady, a company that provides practical implant solutions.
