Intended Use

The Klockner Dental Implant Abutments are intended to be placed into dental implants to provide support for prosthetic reconstructions such as crowns, bridges or overdentures. The Klockner Dental Implant Abutments include healing caps, temporary abutments, angled abutments, straight abutments, and overdentures. All abutments are intended to be used with the Klockner Dental Implant Systems, models: Essential ES, Essential ES, Essential ECK, Essential EC 1.5, SK2 and NK2.

Device Story

Klockner Dental Implant Abutments are prosthetic components placed into dental implants to facilitate rehabilitation. Components include healing caps (soft tissue healing), protective caps (impression protection), temporary abutments (provisional restoration support), angled/straight abutments (definitive prosthesis retention), and overdenture abutments (removable prosthesis retention). Inputs are the dental implant interface; outputs are the mechanical support for dental prostheses. Used in dental clinics by dentists/specialists. Straight abutments include a Titanium Base for CAD/CAM systems (e.g., 3M ESPE Lava). The device provides a stable connection between the endosseous implant and the final or provisional restoration, benefiting patients by restoring masticatory function and esthetics.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data are presented in this submission. Substantial equivalence is supported by bench testing, including bioburden and sterility testing (ISO 11737-1/17665-1) and mechanical performance testing (torsion and fatigue per ISO 14801).

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Titanium Alloy (ASTM F136), Titanium cp (ASTM F67), PMMA, POM C. Features: Internal/external octagonal connections, ball attachments, angled (15°-30°) and straight designs. Includes Titanium Base for CAD/CAM. Sterilization: Validated per ISO 17665-1. Connectivity: Mechanical interface for dental prosthetics; CAD/CAM compatible.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring prosthetic reconstruction (crowns, bridges, or overdentures) supported by Klockner Dental Implant Systems (models: Essential ES, ECK, EC 1.5, SK2, NK2).

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An endosseous dental implant abutment is a premanufactured prosthetic component directly connected to the endosseous dental implant and is intended for use as an aid in prosthetic rehabilitation.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Root-Form Endosseous Dental Implants and Endosseous Dental Implant Abutments” will serve as the special control.
