Indications for Use
CardNav, an image acquisition and processing modular software package, is indicated for use as follows: Assist in projection selection using 3D modeling based on 2D images. Perform quantitative analysis on coronary veins based on fluoroscopy images. Assists in device positioning by providing real time localization on predefined roadmaps and live fluoroscopy. Perform motion analysis on coronary veins based on fluoroscopy images. To be used in cardiac procedures and off-line for post-procedural analysis.
Device Story
CardNav is a modular software add-on for conventional X-ray angiography systems. It processes 2D fluoroscopy images to assist clinicians during cardiac procedures involving coronary venous device placement. The device performs 3D modeling from 2D images for projection selection, provides real-time localization on roadmaps for device positioning, and conducts quantitative and motion analysis of coronary veins. Used by clinicians in cardiac procedure settings and for offline post-procedural review. The software enhances diagnostic and therapeutic staging without altering standard angiography workflows. Benefits include improved procedural planning, accurate device placement, and quantitative assessment of venous anatomy and motion.
Clinical Evidence
Evidence includes in-house software verification, on-site system evaluation, bench testing using phantoms, retrospective clinical data, and an animal study. The animal study compared device results against a sonomicrometry measurement method. Results demonstrated that the device performs as intended and is safe for its intended use.
Technological Characteristics
Modular software package designed as an add-on to conventional X-ray angiography systems. Features include 3D modeling from 2D images, quantitative analysis, real-time localization, and motion analysis. Operates on standard fluoroscopy input. No specific hardware materials or energy sources listed as the device is software-only.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients undergoing device placement in the coronary venous system. Used in cardiac procedures and post-procedural analysis.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system is a device intended to visualize anatomical structures by converting a pattern of x-radiation into a visible image through electronic amplification. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). An anthrogram tray or radiology dental tray intended for use with an image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9. In addition, when intended as an accessory to the device described in paragraph (a) of this section, the fluoroscopic compression device is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
