Intended Use
The AlboGraft Double Velour Knitted and Woven Grafts are indicated for use in the replacement or repair of arteries affected with aneurysmal or occlusive disease.
Device Story
AlboGraft Vascular Prosthesis is a knitted or woven tubular polyester fabric impregnated with bovine collagen. Used by surgeons in clinical settings for arterial replacement or repair in patients with aneurysmal or occlusive disease. Device serves as a synthetic conduit to restore blood flow. Clinical benefit includes limb salvage and improved patency in peripheral arterial disease. No electronic or software components; purely mechanical implant.
Clinical Evidence
Retrospective clinical review of 66 patients (mean age 64.8, 66% male) with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (pAOD) undergoing iliac artery reconstruction. Primary endpoints included patency and limb salvage. Results at 24 months: primary patency 89.4%, secondary patency 95.1%, limb salvage 98.4%. ABI improved from 0.46 to 0.89 post-operatively. 30-day mortality 4.5%.
Technological Characteristics
Knitted or woven tubular polyester fabric impregnated with bovine collagen. Tested per ISO 7198 (burst, tensile strength, suture pull, permeability, dimensions) and ISO 10993-1 (biocompatibility).
Indications for Use
Indicated for replacement or repair of arteries affected by aneurysmal or occlusive disease in patients requiring vascular reconstruction.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A vascular graft prosthesis is an implanted device intended to repair, replace, or bypass sections of native or artificial vessels, excluding coronary or cerebral vasculature, and to provide vascular access. It is commonly constructed of materials such as polyethylene terephthalate and polytetrafluoroethylene, and it may be coated with a biological coating, such as albumin or collagen, or a synthetic coating, such as silicone. The graft structure itself is not made of materials of animal origin, including human umbilical cords.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The special control for this device is the FDA guidance document entitled “Guidance Document for Vascular Prostheses 510(k) Submissions.”
