Intended Use

The Cardio-Wrap Bioresorbable Sheet is intended for reconstruction and repair of defects of the pericardium

Device Story

Cardio-Wrap Bioresorbable Sheet is a sterile, single-use, resorbable implant in sheet form; fabricated from polylactic acid (PLA). Device is flexible, semi-rigid, and can be cut to desired shape/size (10mm x 10mm to 500mm x 500mm; 0.02mm to 1.0mm thickness) by surgeons in the OR. Used alone or with resorbable sutures for fixation to prevent dislocation. Provides a physical barrier for reconstruction and repair of pericardial defects. Benefits include bioresorbability, eliminating need for permanent implant removal. Safety/effectiveness for reducing post-operative adhesion formation not established.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data. Evidence consists of bench testing (mechanical strength, aging) and in vivo animal studies demonstrating safety and efficacy for the intended use.

Technological Characteristics

Material: Polylactic acid (PLA). Form: Solid, flexible, semi-rigid sheet. Dimensions: 10mm x 10mm to 500mm x 500mm; 0.02mm to 1.0mm thickness. Sterilization: Sterile. Connectivity: None. Software: None.

Indications for Use

Indicated for reconstruction and repair of pericardial defects in patients requiring surgical intervention.
