Intended Use
The PERI-LOC Periarticular Locked Plating System can be used for adult and pediatric patients, as well as patients with osteopenic bone. PERI-LOC bones plates and screws are indicated for fixation of pelvic, small and long bone fractures, including those of the tibia, fibula, femur, pelvis, acetabulum, metacarpals, metatarsals, humerus, ulna, radius, calcaneus, and clavicle. Components in the PERI-LOC™ Periarticular Locked Plating System are for single use only.
Device Story
PERI-LOC™ Periarticular Locked Plating System consists of contoured locking bone plates and locking/non-locking bone screws; designed for surgical fixation of bone fractures. Device utilizes screw-to-plate locking mechanism to create fixed-angle construct; aids in maintaining fracture reduction. Intended for use by surgeons in clinical/OR settings. Benefits include stable fixation for various fracture types, including in osteopenic bone. Subject device represents material change to ASTM F139 stainless steel.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided; substantial equivalence is based on design, material, and intended use similarities to previously cleared predicate devices.
Technological Characteristics
Metallic bone fixation system; components manufactured from ASTM F139 stainless steel. Features contoured locking plates and locking/non-locking screws. Employs screw-to-plate locking mechanism for fixed-angle stability. Single-use device.
Indications for Use
Indicated for fixation of pelvic, small, and long bone fractures (tibia, fibula, femur, pelvis, acetabulum, metacarpals, metatarsals, humerus, ulna, radius, calcaneus, clavicle) in adult and pediatric patients, including those with osteopenic bone.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
