Intended Use

The Synthes (USA) Pediatric LCP Hip Plate System is intended for fixation of fractures and osteotomies of the proximal femur in children, adolescents, and small statured adults. Specific intertrochanteric derotation and varus indications include: neck and osteotomies (100° and 110° plates), femoral petrochanteric fractures (120° plates), and intertrochanteric valgus osteotomies (150° plates).

Features 3.5mm and 5.0mm versions with 100°, 110°, 120°, and 150° angles. Design includes three conical locking screw holes at head; 3 or 4 combination locked-compression screw holes at shaft. Fixed angle construct achieved via three standard locking screws in plate head; shaft accepts locking or cortex screws based on bone quality/fracture type. Implanted by surgeons in clinical setting to stabilize bone segments, promoting healing and alignment.

The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
