Intended Use
The 2 cm Peripheral Cutting Balloon catheters are recommended for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty of obstructive lesions in synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae.
Device Story
The 2 cm Peripheral Cutting Balloon (PCB) is a PTA catheter designed for treating obstructive lesions in synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae. It features a non-compliant balloon with four longitudinal microsurgical blades (Atherotomes) mounted on its surface. The device includes a dual-lumen catheter body: an outer lumen for balloon inflation and an inner lumen for guidewire compatibility (0.018"). Radiopaque markers indicate the position of the atherotomes. Operated by a physician in a clinical setting, the device is advanced over a guidewire to the lesion site. Inflation of the balloon expands the atherotomes, which score the lesion to facilitate dilation. This mechanism aims to improve vessel patency and blood flow in dialysis access sites. The device is a product line extension of the 1 cm PCB, utilizing longer balloons to support the 2 cm blade length.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing and biocompatibility testing only. No clinical data provided.
Technological Characteristics
Non-compliant balloon catheter with four longitudinal microsurgical blades (Atherotomes). Dual-lumen design (inflation and guidewire). Compatible with 0.018" guidewire. Rated Burst Pressure (RBP) of 10 atm. Radiopaque markers for positioning. Available in various diameters (5.0-8.0 mm) and lengths (50-135 cm).
Indications for Use
Indicated for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) of obstructive lesions in synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A percutaneous catheter is a device that is introduced into a vein or artery through the skin using a dilator and a sheath (introducer) or guide wire.

## Device Description
The 2 cm Pcripheral Cutting Balloon (2 cm PCB) is a product line extension to the 1 cm Peripheral Cutting Balloon, and uses longer balloons to support 2 cm blades. It is available in nominal balloon diameters of 5.0 mm (Table 1). The device features a non-compliant balloon with four Atherotomes (microsurgical blades) mounted longitudinally on its outer surface. The catheter body has two lumens. The outer lumen is the balloon inflation lumen. The inner lumen is used to pass the catheter over a guidewire. Radionaque markers are placed on the guidewire tubing at the ends of the atherotomes to provide visual reference points for balloon positioning within the vessel. One end of the catheter is attached to a Y-connector, the other end is attached to the balloon. The Rated Burst Pressure (RBP) of the device is 10 atm. The device is compatible with 0.018" guide wire.
