Device Story

Fiber Dust is a Thulium surgical laser system (1940 nm) delivering up to 60W power via quartz optical fiber. Used in urology, gastroenterology, and gynecology for soft tissue surgery and lithotripsy. Operated by clinicians in clinical settings; laser emission triggered by footswitch. System comprises diode laser, power electronics, control electronics, and air cooling. Software manages device functions and user-selected settings. Aiming beam (532nm) assists targeting. Device enables precise tissue interaction (ablation, coagulation, etc.) and stone fragmentation, benefiting patients through minimally invasive endoscopic or open surgical procedures.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Compliance with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-2-22, IEC 60825-1, and IEC 60601-1-6 standards. Software verification and validation performed per FDA guidance.

Technological Characteristics

Thulium laser source; 1.94 μm wavelength; 60W max average power; CW/pulsed emission. Pulse duration 0.1-15ms; pulse energy 0.02-6J; frequency 1-2500 Hz. Delivery via quartz optical fiber (up to 1000 μm). 532nm aiming beam (<5 mW). Air cooling system. Software-controlled functions.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring soft tissue surgery (incision, resection, ablation, coagulation, hemostasis, vaporization) or lithotripsy in urology, gastroenterology, and gynecology. Applicable to BPH, tumors, calculi, and various gastrointestinal/gynecological conditions.

Regulatory Classification
