This mechanism affords the device a known insertion depth as well as a conductive path to the abdominal wall.

Device Story

The Port-site Protector is a surgical accessory used during laparoscopic procedures. It features an elastomeric mechanism that tethers the device to the interior abdominal wall. This design ensures a consistent, known insertion depth for laparoscopic cannulas or trocars and provides a conductive path to the abdominal wall. Used by surgeons in an operating room setting, the device assists in stabilizing and positioning laparoscopic instruments. It benefits the patient by facilitating controlled trocar placement and potentially reducing site-related complications during minimally invasive surgery.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Device utilizes an elastomeric tethering mechanism for abdominal wall attachment. Provides fixed insertion depth and conductive path. Mechanical design for use with standard laparoscopic cannulas/trocars.

Indications for Use

Indicated for use in general laparoscopic cannula/trocar procedures to provide a known insertion depth and a conductive path to the abdominal wall.
