Intended Use

The GENICON Single-Use Specimen Retrieval Bag is indicated for use in laparoscopic procedures to capture and remove organs or tissue from the body cavity.

Device Story

Single-use specimen retrieval bag for laparoscopic surgery; used in hospital operating rooms by surgeons. Device consists of flexible PU-coated nylon bag, metallic rim for opening, push-pull rod with thumb ring, finger rings, and closure suture. Introducer shaft (5-15 mm diameter) delivers bag into body cavity. Surgeon deploys bag via rod; captures tissue/organ; closes bag using integrated string/suture; removes specimen through trocar site. Facilitates safe tissue extraction; minimizes risk of contamination during removal.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing performed including seal strength, peel, puncture resistance, and general operation testing. Clinical evaluation (CLEV-032-A) also performed. No specific clinical performance metrics (e.g., sensitivity/specificity) reported.

Technological Characteristics

Shaft diameter 5-15 mm; shaft material PC; bag material PU-coated nylon (PA); introducer material stainless steel. Sterilization via Ethylene Oxide per ISO 11135-1:2007. Compliant with ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards.

Indications for Use

Indicated for use in laparoscopic procedures to capture and remove organs or tissue from the body cavity in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Prescription use only.
