Intended Use
IMIX Insight X-Ray Systems are indicated for use in generating radiographic images of human anatomy. It has a Solid State X-ray Imaging system intended to replace radiographic film/screen systems in all general-purpose diagnostic procedures. IMIX Insight X-Ray Systems are not indicated for diagnostic X-ray mammography.
Device Story
IMIX Insight X-Ray System is a stationary digital radiographic unit. It utilizes a high-frequency generator and X-ray tube to produce radiation, which is captured by a solid-state CCD detector (9 or 16 megapixel). The system features a motorized URS radiographic stand, patient table (440 lb capacity), and collimator with laser positioning. It incorporates anatomical programming and automatic exposure control. Operated by clinicians in a diagnostic setting, the system replaces traditional film/screen radiography. The microprocessor-based system monitor manages exposure settings and image acquisition. Output consists of 16-bit digital radiographic images, which are reviewed by healthcare providers to assist in clinical diagnosis of human anatomy.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided. Substantial equivalence is based on bench testing and technical comparison to legally marketed predicate devices.
Technological Characteristics
Stationary X-ray system; 65 kW high-frequency generator; 300kHU X-ray tube (0.6/1.2mm focus); CCD digital detector (9MP or 16MP); 40cm x 40cm image format; 16-bit image acquisition; 3-field ionization chamber for AEC; motorized stand with anti-collision; microprocessor-based system monitor.
Indications for Use
Indicated for generating radiographic images of human anatomy for general-purpose diagnostic procedures. Not indicated for diagnostic X-ray mammography.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A stationary x-ray system is a permanently installed diagnostic system intended to generate and control x-rays for examination of various anatomical regions. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). A radiographic contrast tray or radiology diagnostic kit intended for use with a stationary x-ray system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
