Intended Use

The intended use of the CSV12 Software Viewer is acceptance, transfer, display, storage, and digital processing of Cypress diagnostic ultrasound images and image manipulation and quantification. No new intended uses are claimed for the modifications.

Device Story

CSV12 Software Viewer is a software-only application for PCs designed for off-line management of ultrasound studies. It functions as an accessory to the Acuson Cypress Diagnostic Ultrasound System. The software ingests full-resolution R-Theta file formats from Cypress ultrasound studies; it enables clinicians to view, store, and perform quantification on these images independently of the ultrasound system. It supports data transfer via DICOM or native Cypress formats, magneto-optical drives, or network connections. By duplicating the patient database and viewing capabilities of the original ultrasound system, it allows clinicians to review studies off-line, facilitating clinical decision-making by providing access to original-quality images outside the immediate scanning environment.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Software-only application for PC. Supports DICOM and native Cypress file formats. Enables image display, storage, and quantification. Connectivity via network or magneto-optical drive. No hardware components.

Indications for Use

Indicated for the acceptance, transfer, display, storage, and digital processing of Cypress Diagnostic Ultrasound System images, including image manipulation and quantification. Patient population not specified.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls; voluntary standards—Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Std., Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) Std., Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Test Pattern).

The modifications implemented in the CSV12 Viewer Software are to provide off-line image management of ultrasound studies and images on a PC and may be operated independently as a software-only product. The CSV12 Software Viewer, when running on a personal computer (PC) duplicates the patient database, study storage, viewing, and quantification capability of the Cypress ultrasound system. This provides clinicians with a simple means of viewing studies off-line. Because it can read the full-resolution R-Theta file formats of the Cypress diagnostic ultrasound images, the CSV12 Software Viewer displays images in real-time without any compression, duplicating the original quality of the images on the Cypress diagnostic ultrasound system. {1}------------------------------------------------ #### Intended Use: The intended use of the CSV12 Software Viewer is acceptance, transfer, display, storage, and digital processing of Cypress diagnostic ultrasound images and image manipulation and quantification. No new intended uses are claimed for the modifications. #### Technological Characteristics and Substantial Equivalence: The modified CSV12 Software Viewer is substantially equivalent to the predicate device, Cypress Diagnostic Ultrasound System Image Viewer, with respect to intended use and indications for use, principles of operation, and technological characteristics and design. It is comparable in key safety and effectiveness features. Studies may be transmitted in DICOM or native Cypress format, to an integrated magneto-optical drive, or over a network. {2}------------------------------------------------ #### DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES Image /page/2/Picture/1 description: The image shows the logo for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
