Device Story
50S Tringa is a portable ultrasound imaging system; utilizes mechanical annular array probes (3.5/5.0 MHz and 5.0/7.5 MHz) to acquire acoustic data; transforms signals into 2D and M-mode images displayed on an integrated 5.4-inch LCD monitor; operated by physicians or under their direction in clinical settings; supports digital archival and VCR recording; provides diagnostic visualization for abdominal, fetal, cardiac, peripheral vascular, and small organ applications; assists clinicians in diagnostic decision-making through real-time anatomical imaging.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. No clinical data provided.
Technological Characteristics
Mechanical annular array probes; 3.5/5.0/7.5 MHz frequencies; 5.4-inch LCD display; 2D and M-mode imaging; digital archival and VCR support; electrical safety per EN60601-1; ultrasound safety per Track 1.
Indications for Use
Indicated for physician-directed non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound imaging in abdominal, peripheral vascular, fetal, cardiac, and small organ (thyroid, breast, testicles) applications.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An ultrasonic pulsed echo imaging system is a device intended to project a pulsed sound beam into body tissue to determine the depth or location of the tissue interfaces and to measure the duration of an acoustic pulse from the transmitter to the tissue interface and back to the receiver. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). A biopsy needle guide kit intended for use with an ultrasonic pulsed echo imaging system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
