Indications for Use

The RadPro ION Mobile Fluoroscopy Systems are designed to provide fluoroscopic and spot-film images of the patient during diagnostic, surgical and interventional procedures Examples of clinical application may include cholangiography, endoscopy, urologic, orthopedic, neurologic, critical care and emergency room procedures The system may be used for other imaging applications at the physician's dıscretion

Device Story

RadPro ION Mobile Fluoroscopy Systems are mobile C-arm X-ray units used in surgical, orthopedic, traumatology, and cardiology settings. The system captures X-ray images using an image intensifier and a high-contrast CCD camera. It features image rotation and reversal capabilities. An automatic dose control system adjusts kV and mA values based on patient thickness and density to minimize radiation exposure. The system includes a control panel with an alphanumerical display, which can be extended via cable to the patient support for operator control. Images are stored and displayed in real-time on a monitor. The device incorporates a Dose Area Product (DAP) meter for regulatory compliance. Physicians and clinical staff use the system to visualize internal structures during procedures, facilitating real-time clinical decision-making and diagnostic accuracy while managing radiation dose.

Clinical Evidence

Bench and laboratory testing were performed to verify performance against applicable standards. No clinical trial data was required or presented; substantial equivalence was supported by bench testing and evaluation of clinical images.

Technological Characteristics

Mobile C-arm X-ray system; 18 kW generator; 9" or 13" image intensifiers; CCD camera with image rotation/reversal; automatic dose control (kV/mA modulation); Dose Area Product (DAP) meter; alphanumerical control console; electrical safety per IEC-60601; UL listed.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients undergoing diagnostic, surgical, or interventional procedures requiring fluoroscopic or spot-film imaging, including cholangiography, endoscopy, urologic, orthopedic, neurologic, critical care, and emergency room applications.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system is a device intended to visualize anatomical structures by converting a pattern of x-radiation into a visible image through electronic amplification. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). An anthrogram tray or radiology dental tray intended for use with an image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9. In addition, when intended as an accessory to the device described in paragraph (a) of this section, the fluoroscopic compression device is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
