## Intended Use

Embrace Gel is intended for use as an ultrasound coupling media for use with the Embrace™ 3D Ultrasound Tomography System K070477.

## Device Story

Embrace Gel is an expandable polymer pad used as an ultrasound coupling medium. It is placed in the dome of the Embrace™ 3D Ultrasound Tomography System and hydrated prior to scanning. The pad expands to fill voids between the breast tissue and the ultrasound probe, ensuring acoustic coupling. After the scan, the gel is removed in one piece. It is used in a clinical setting by trained operators of the Embrace™ system to facilitate high-quality ultrasound imaging of breast tissue.

## Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided; bench testing only.

## Technological Characteristics

Expandable polymer gel pad; functions as an acoustic coupling medium for ultrasound imaging. Dimensions and material specifications are not detailed.

## Regulatory Identification

A diagnostic ultrasonic transducer is a device made of a piezoelectric material that converts electrical signals into acoustic signals and acoustic signals into electrical signals and intended for use in diagnostic ultrasonic medical devices. Accessories of this generic type of device may include transmission media for acoustically coupling the transducer to the body surface, such as acoustic gel, paste, or a flexible fluid container.
