Indications for Use

The Anythink is a medical image processing system, which offers comprehensive solutions to viewing, manipulation, communication and storage of multi-modality DICOM images and data on exchange media. The Anythink® is a universal imaging platform, and supports different modalities, but it is not intended for the displaying of digital mammography images for diagnosis in the U.S.

Device Story

Anythink PACS Workstation is a software-based medical image processing system for viewing, manipulating, storing, and communicating multi-modality DICOM images. Operated by clinicians in a clinical setting, it runs on Windows XP. Input consists of DICOM-formatted images from various modalities. The system provides basic tools (viewing, storage, patient management) and optional professional modules for specific clinical tasks, including 3D reconstruction (MPR, MIP, SSD, Volume Rendering, Virtual Endoscopy) and quantitative analysis (QCA for coronary arteries, LVA for cardiac function, and colonography). Output is displayed on a workstation monitor to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment planning. The clinician retains ultimate responsibility for diagnosis.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided. Safety and effectiveness are supported by bench testing, software verification, and validation under ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820 quality systems.

Technological Characteristics

Software-based PACS workstation running on Windows XP. Supports DICOM 3.0 standard. Hardware requirements include dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM, and dedicated video card. Features include 2D/3D image processing, quantitative analysis tools, and network communication. Software development follows ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820.

Indications for Use

Indicated for medical image processing, viewing, manipulation, communication, and storage of multi-modality DICOM images. Not intended for digital mammography diagnosis in the U.S. Intended for use by physicians for diagnosis or treatment planning.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.
