Intended Use

The Flower Upper Extremity Plating Set is intended to be used for fixation of fractures, fusions, or osteotomies of the clavicle, humerus, radius and ulna.

Device Story

The Flower Upper Extremity Plating Set is a metallic bone fixation system consisting of various anatomical plates (clavicle, humerus, olecranon, coronoid) and variable angle locking/non-locking screws. Used by orthopedic surgeons in clinical settings to stabilize bone fractures, fusions, or osteotomies. The device provides mechanical support to bone segments, facilitating healing through rigid fixation. The system includes general-purpose instruments and trials to assist the surgeon during implantation. The plates and screws are implanted during surgical procedures to provide structural stability to the affected upper extremity bones.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performance was validated through engineering analysis and testing against standards including ASTM F67, ASTM F136, ISO 5832-2/3, ISO 7153-1, ISO 10993-1/5, and ISO 11137-1. Testing demonstrated that the device provides appropriate mechanical strength and functions as intended.

Technological Characteristics

Plates: pure titanium (ASTM F67). Screws: titanium alloy (ASTM F136). Components include clavicle, humerus, olecranon, and coronoid plates with variable angle locking/non-locking screws. Sterilization: radiation (ISO 11137-1).

Indications for Use

Indicated for fixation of fractures, fusions, or osteotomies of the clavicle, humerus, radius, and ulna in patients requiring orthopedic bone fixation.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
