Intended Use

The Sintea Biotech Anterior Cervical Plate System is intended for anterior screw fixation of the cervical spine (C3 to C7). The device is intended for single use only and is packaged non-sterile with sterilization required prior to use. WARNING: This device is not intended for screw attachment or fixation to the posterior elements (pedicles) of the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine.

Device Story

System comprises anterior cervical locking plates, bone screws, and associated instruments; provides anterior buttress construct for stabilization following corpectomy or discectomy. Used in clinical settings by surgeons via anterior approach to cervical spine (C3-C7). Components manufactured from Ti6A14V ELI titanium alloy; designed to minimize allergic reaction and enhance post-operative MRI/CT imaging. Device provides mechanical fixation to support spinal fusion; intended for single use. Must not be mixed with components from other manufacturers or dissimilar metals to prevent corrosion. Benefits include stabilization of cervical spine in patients with degenerative, traumatic, or neoplastic pathologies.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Fatigue testing performed on worst-case configuration per ASTM F1717; device successfully completed 5 million cycles without microscopic or macroscopic failure. Mechanical performance demonstrated to be comparable to predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

Material: Ti6A14V ELI titanium alloy (ASTM F136). Components: Locking plates, bone screws, instruments. Fixation: Anterior screw fixation. Sterilization: Non-sterile, requires user sterilization. Connectivity: None. Software: None.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring anterior cervical spine fixation (levels C3-C7) for degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, trauma (fracture/dislocation), spinal stenosis, deformities (scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis), tumor, pseudarthrosis, or failed previous fusion. Contraindicated for posterior element (pedicle) attachment.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A spinal intervertebral body fixation orthosis is a device intended to be implanted made of titanium. It consists of various vertebral plates that are punched into each of a series of vertebral bodies. An eye-type screw is inserted in a hole in the center of each of the plates. A braided cable is threaded through each eye-type screw. The cable is tightened with a tension device and it is fastened or crimped at each eye-type screw. The device is used to apply force to a series of vertebrae to correct “sway back,” scoliosis (lateral curvature of the spine), or other conditions.

Mixing of dissimilar metals can accelerate the corrosion process. The components of this system must NOT be used with verblants of other metals in building a construct. Components of the Sintea Biotech Ann Inne Cervical Plate System should NOT be used with components from any other system or manufacturer. Predicate Devices (legally marketed comparison devices): Sintea Biotech, Inc. believes that the Sintea Biotech Anterior Cervical Plate System is substantially equivalent to Synthes' Cervical Spine Locking Plate (CSLP), K000742 and K000536, (Decision Dates: 03/29/2000 and 03/15/2000, respectively). A basic feature comparison table for the Sintea Biotech Anterior Cervical Plate System and this predicate device is located at the end of this section of the submission. {2}------------------------------------------------ ### Device Description: The Sintea Biotech Anterior Cervical Plate System is a family of anterior cervical spine locking plates, screws and associated instruments, providing an anterior buttress. opstruct for use following Corpectomy or discectomy. Fixation is provided by bone screws inserted into the vertebral body of the cervical spine using an anterior approach. It is indicated for traumatic, degenerative, and tumor pathologies. All system components are made of biocompatible Ti6A14V ELI titanium alloy, which minimizes the possibility of allergic reaction and enhances post-operative MRJ/CT analyses as described by ASTM F136.
