Indications for Use

The Tenon Medical Catamaran SI Joint Fusion System is intended for sacroiliac joint fusion for conditions including: • Sacroiliac joint disruptions and degenerative sacroiliitis • To augment immobilization and stabilization of the sacroiliac joint in skeletally mature patients undergoing sacropelvic fixation as part of a lumbar or thoracolumbar fusion.

Device Story

System for sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion; provides less invasive alternative to open posterior surgery. Consists of Ti6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy implants and reusable surgical instruments (access, drill, delivery, bone graft packing, extraction). Implants feature barrels for autologous bone graft placement to support fusion. Used in surgical setting; operated by surgeons via inferior-posterior approach. Implants and instruments provided non-sterile; require steam sterilization before use. Output is mechanical fixation of SI joint; facilitates fusion through bone graft containment.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Evidence includes biocompatibility assessment (ISO 10993), sterilization validation (ISO 17664), cadaver study, usability assessments, and design verification evaluations.

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.

You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act.
