Triathlon® X3® Medial Stabilized Tibial Bearing Insert is a sterile, single-use orthopedic implant for primary or revision total knee arthroplasty; functions as a component of the Triathlon® Total Knee System. Device features an asymmetric articulating surface designed to increase medial conformity with compatible femoral components; provides increased sagittal stability and natural rotational kinematics. Includes a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) locking wire for assembly with tibial baseplates. Used by orthopedic surgeons in clinical/OR settings. Output is a physical bearing surface that replaces damaged knee joint cartilage/bone; affects clinical decision-making by restoring joint function and stability in patients with degenerative or traumatic knee conditions.

Technological Characteristics

UHMWPE bearing insert with Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy locking wire. Asymmetric articulating surface geometry. Sterile, single-use. Evaluated per ISO 10993-1 (biocompatibility), ISO 11607-1/2, ASTM F1980 (shelf-life), and ANSI/AAMI ST72 (pyrogenicity).

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients with painful, disabling knee joint disease (noninflammatory degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis, avascular necrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis); post-traumatic loss of knee joint configuration/function; moderate varus, valgus, or flexion deformity with restorable ligamentous stability; revision of unsuccessful knee replacement; distal femur/proximal tibia fractures not manageable by standard techniques; ligamentous instability requiring increased constraint; or absent/non-functioning posterior cruciate ligament.

Identification

A knee joint patellofemorotibial metal/polymer porous-coated uncemented prosthesis is a device intended to be implanted to replace a knee joint. The device limits translation and rotation in one or more planes via the geometry of its articulating surfaces. It has no linkage across-the-joint. This generic type of device is designed to achieve biological fixation to bone without the use of bone cement. This identification includes fixed-bearing knee prostheses where the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene tibial bearing is rigidly secured to the metal tibial base plate.
