Device Story

Fixion Intramedullary Nailing System consists of stainless steel nails and hip pegs for orthopedic fracture fixation. Device functions as internal fixation rod; inserted into medullary canal to stabilize bone fragments. Used by orthopedic surgeons in clinical/surgical settings. System design utilizes mechanical stabilization of bone segments; provides structural support for healing. Benefits include stabilization of complex fractures, including comminuted and pathological types, and support for bone reconstruction procedures.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Stainless steel (ASTM F 138/ISO 5832-1 and ASTM F 1314). Intramedullary fixation rod design. Designed to meet ASTM F 565 standards for care and handling of orthopedic implants.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring fixation of femur, tibia, or humerus fractures, including shaft, proximal, pertrochanteric, intertrochanteric, subtrochanteric, comminuted, and pathological fractures, as well as osteotomy, nonunions, malunions, bone reconstruction, and revision procedures.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An intramedullary fixation rod is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a rod made of alloys such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel. It is inserted into the medullary (bone marrow) canal of long bones for the fixation of fractures.
