Intended Use

The One Series™ Ultra cartridge is used to fold and assist in the insertion of a TECNIS® 1-Piece soft acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) into the eye.

Device Story

Single-use polypropylene cartridge (Model 1VIPR30) used to fold and insert TECNIS® 1-Piece soft acrylic intraocular lenses (IOLs) into the eye. IOL is loaded into proximal portion of cartridge via forceps; cartridge is inserted into a reusable titanium handpiece. Handpiece advances IOL through cartridge tube for delivery into the eye. Used in clinical settings by ophthalmic surgeons during cataract surgery. Benefits include controlled, assisted IOL delivery through a small incision.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Testing verified material and performance characteristics, including IOL folding, delivery, and retention of cosmetic, dimensional, and optical properties, were equivalent to predicate devices.

Technological Characteristics

Single-use injection-molded polypropylene cartridge with lubricious coating. Provided sterile. Dimensions/form factor designed for compatibility with reusable titanium handpiece. Mechanical folding and delivery mechanism.

Indications for Use

Indicated for folding and assisting in the insertion of TECNIS® 1-Piece soft acrylic intraocular lenses into the eye following cataract extraction.
