Indications for Use

The LEUKO EZ VUE™ test is an immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of elevated levels of fecal lactoferrin, a marker for fecal leukocytes and an indicator of intestinal inflammation. The LEUKO EZ VUE™ test detects lactoferrin in liquid, semi-solid, and solid fecal specimens. A positive test result indicates an increased level of fecal lactoferrin and warrants additional testing. Device Story

TechLab LEUKO EZ VUE is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for qualitative detection of fecal lactoferrin. Input: liquid, semi-solid, or solid fecal specimens. Operation: sample diluted in kit diluent, added to membrane cassette; lactoferrin binds to gold-conjugated rabbit anti-lactoferrin antibodies; complexes captured by immobilized anti-lactoferrin antibodies on test stripe; control stripe uses mouse anti-IgG. Output: visual red lines in Results Window (positive: two lines; negative: one control line; invalid: no control line). Used in clinical settings; performed by laboratory personnel. Provides rapid indicator of intestinal inflammation to guide clinical decision-making and need for further testing.

Clinical Evidence

Clinical study (N=375) compared LEUKO EZ VUE™ to LEUKO-TEST. Results: 93% positive agreement (95% CI: 86–97%), 80% negative agreement (95% CI: 74–84%), and 83% overall agreement (95% CI: 80–86%). Bench testing confirmed reproducibility and a minimum detection limit of ≥ 128 ng/mL for purified human lactoferrin.

Precision/Reproducibility: Intra-assay: Nineteen human fecal specimens were analyzed a total of six times in the same assay run with a single lot of the test. The specimens included 6 samples with values close to the cut-off for positive/negative. For the analysis, a single 1:50 dilution of each fecal specimen was prepared in kit diluent as described in the package insert. All positive specimens remained positive and all negative specimens remained negative. Inter-assay: Twenty human fecal specimens were analyzed once a day using separate {3} specimen dilutions done fresh each day during a 3-day period using a single lot of the test. The specimens included 6 samples close to the assay cut-off. All positive specimens remained positive and all negative specimens remained negative. b.
