It accepts Celerity 20 HP Biological Indicators (BIs) containing Geobacillus stearothermophilus. The device maintains a constant 57 °C temperature to facilitate enzyme-based outgrowth of the microorganisms. An internal photodiode detects fluorescence generated by enzyme cleavage of a substrate within the BI.
