Intended Use

The Easy Loop is indicated for use in abdominal surgical procedures generally referred the Lady Loop is mare specifically referred to as loop ileostomy and loop colostomy, where a loop of bowel is pulled through an abdominal incision and retained colosiony, which a loop of bonet to pair in paints the exteriorized loop of bowel from retracting back into the abdominal cavity, is used in conjunction with commercially available ostomy appliances which collect the evacuated feces.

Device Story

Easy Loop is a colostomy rod used during loop ostomy surgery. Device consists of 8-inch flexible PVC tubing with arrow-shaped slotted PVC couplings at each end. Surgeon inserts device through the mesentery of the exteriorized bowel loop; couplings interlock to form a closed loop, preventing bowel retraction into the abdominal cavity. Used in conjunction with standard wafer and pouch ostomy appliances. Operated by surgeons in clinical/surgical settings. Benefits patient by maintaining bowel exteriorization during the post-operative period.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided. Safety and effectiveness were established based on successful employment by Board Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeons and comparison of technological characteristics to the predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

Constructed of 8-inch long, 0.28-inch diameter flexible PVC tubing. Features two 1.45-inch arrow-shaped slotted PVC coupling members at ends for interlocking. Mechanical retention device; no energy source or software.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients undergoing loop ileostomy or loop colostomy procedures requiring retention of an exteriorized loop of bowel to prevent retraction into the abdominal cavity.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A colostomy rod is a device used during the loop colostomy procedure. A loop of colon is surgically brought out through the abdominal wall and the stiff colostomy rod is placed through the loop temporarily to keep the colon from slipping back through the surgical opening.
