## Intended Use

SITZMARKS capsule is a diagnostic test inding in the evaluation of colonic motility in patients with severe constipation, as diagnosed by your healthcare professional, but otherwise negative GI evaluations. SITZMARKS capsule, for use in adult and pediatric patients (at least 2 years old), is to be dispensed only by physicians to patients for oral intake.

## Device Story

SITZMARKS capsule is a radiopaque diagnostic marker used to assess colonic transit time. The device consists of a capsule containing radiopaque markers; ingested orally by the patient. Following ingestion, the patient undergoes abdominal X-ray imaging at specified intervals to track the movement and distribution of the markers through the colon. The healthcare provider analyzes the X-ray images to quantify colonic motility; results assist in the clinical diagnosis of constipation-related disorders. The device is intended for use in clinical settings under physician supervision.

## Technological Characteristics

Radiopaque markers contained within an ingestible capsule. The device functions as a passive diagnostic aid for radiographic visualization of gastrointestinal transit.

## Regulatory Identification

A gastrointestinal motility monitoring system is a device used to measure peristalic activity or pressure in the stomach or esophagus by means of a probe with transducers that is introduced through the mouth into the gastrointestinal tract. The device may include signal conditioning, amplifying, and recording equipment. This generic type of device includes the esophageal motility monitor and tube, the gastrointestinal motility (electrical) system, and certain accessories, such as a pressure transducer, amplifier, and external recorder.
