Intended Use

The intended use of the HearID-wbMEPA Middle Ear Power Analyzer is to characterize the middle ear status and to assist in diagnosing middle ear pathologies. The HearID-wbMEPA system measures various acoustic properties of the ear, namely power reflectance, power absorption, transmittance, reflectance group delay, complex acoustic impedance and admittance, and equivalent ear canal volume. These measures allow the evaluation of the functional condition of the middle and outer ear. The devices are suitable for all populations including new-born infants. The devices are to be used by trained personnel only.

Device Story

HearID-wbMEPA system characterizes middle ear status; measures acoustic properties including power reflectance, power absorption, transmittance, reflectance group delay, complex acoustic impedance/admittance, and equivalent ear canal volume. Used by trained personnel in clinical settings to evaluate middle and outer ear function. System processes acoustic signals to provide quantitative data for diagnostic assistance. Two hardware versions available (HearID_b-wbMEPA and HearID_e-wbMEPA). Output aids clinicians in identifying middle ear pathologies.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided in the document; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Acoustic measurement system for middle ear analysis. Measures power reflectance, absorption, impedance, and admittance. Available in two hardware configurations (HearID_b-wbMEPA and HearID_e-wbMEPA).

Indications for Use

Indicated for characterizing middle ear status and diagnosing middle ear pathologies in all populations, including newborn infants. For use by trained personnel only.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An audiometer or automated audiometer is an electroacoustic device that produces controlled levels of test tones and signals intended for use in conducting diagnostic hearing evaluations and assisting in the diagnosis of possible otologic disorders.
